S-19
The S-19 is a low wing monoplane of traditional aluminum construction, featuring a constant chord wing with no taper or twist. This provides significant advantages in airframe construction and a good stall characteristic. The horizontal tail is one big moving surface (stabilator).
The S-19 is powered by a ROTAX 912 ULS engine producing 100 HP. The engine has proven itself reliable in years of operation.
The aircraft has a seating capacity of two in
side by side configuration. The 43.5" wide cockpit accommodates
occupants up to 6' 4" and even larger with slight modifications.
Leg-, shoulder- and headroom are generous in comparison to other
airplanes of this category.
The visibility over the nose is excellent due
to the relative upright seat position.
Baggage space is more than expected. Baggage can be carried
in a 13 cubic foot compartment behind the seats with a loading
capacity of 70lb.
This already large compartment can be extended to the rear for
approximate 9.5 cubic foot additional baggage space with a loading
capacity of 30 lb.
The S-19 structure is of monocoque (stressed
skin) design. This means that most of the airframe strength
is provided by its aluminum skins. The skins are sufficiently
supported with internal structure like bulkheads and stringer
to maintain shape. The airplane is built very sturdy and should
provide a life time service if it receives the required maintenance
and adequate storage.
High quality pop type rivets are used throughout
the construction of the airframe. This eases the building process
and significantly shortens assembly time. It is a safe way of
construction and has proven itself. Since the rivets are so
easy and quick to install we use a few more than needed to carry
the loads, increasing durability of the airframe.
